Avalon: Faerie Tales
A New Knights Novel
Blue has hit the streets. The OtherWorld strikes back. And what the hell is M.O.O.?

The worlds are stranger than they think.
And the OtherWorld will not remain quiet.
A new drug hits the streets – Blue – driving people into hallucinogenic frenzies that often prove fatal. The components defy analysis. It has to be mystical. Out of options, Detective Quinn must turn to old friends.
Artie Abrams, Matt Merrick and the spirit of King Arthur are working the streets as the vigilante Avalon; tackling all manner of magickal monsters threatening mankind from the shadows. But this new enemy, with man-buns, sandals and portal-hopping technology lightyears beyond humanity, may be beyond even them.
Something old.
Something new.
Someone’s borrowed.
Something Blue.
As Artie and Matt prepare to take the next step in their relationship, the world prepares to tear them apart. Deeper, stranger and far more confusing, all they find are mysteries. What ancient evil owns a nightclub? Why is meeting your mother-in-law while she’s pruning her bush scarier than dragons? And perhaps, the most dangerous mystery of all – who, or what, is M.O.O.?
Avalon: Faerie Tales is the epically bonkers follow-up to Avalon, yet at its core remains a story of love, lore and, yes, still Linda. The world may be bigger, friends and foes more complicated, but at its heart Faerie Tales reminds us: it’s not always about who you’re fighting, but who you’re fighting beside… and what you’re fighting for.

The Soundtrack
The opening image of Avalon: Faerie Tales lived in my head rent-free from the moment I first heard E.T. by Katy Perry. Not the rappy one, the poppy one. As the book flowed, so too did the sound – this one being a heck of a lot more pop. The soundtrack evolves, moving from the generational energy of Avalon and into the weird, wonderful chaotic sounds of changing adulthood. A hint of boundaries, touches of rock, blend into heart-led ballads and deep beats.
This is not necessarily a soundtrack to relax to, this is one to fire up the blood. To shake your booty while doing the dishes. This is the story of Faerie Tales. A tale of heart. A tale of joy. A tale of celebrating when the world, grey, rainy and bland, tells you to be something else. In the end, perhaps even something more fundamental – a tale of life.

Do not be afraid…
A voice without sound echoing through the molasses of her mind. It could tell her not to be afraid but fear she still felt, dulled by the hypnotic effect of the dazzling beam.
Was it coming from the figure? The one stood in the light? A woman, raven black hair flowing across beautiful bare shoulders of pale, ethereal skin. Shockingly, enviously beautiful, moving through the winter night with bare feet and a whisper of a white silken dress. Did she speak? Or did she think?
Do not be afraid…
But she was. Deep in the core of her being, despite the beauty with which she was presented, Judith was very, very afraid.
Behind the Story
Faerie Tales was written in lockdown. That weird twilight of time when all of us were trapped inside while the world was ravaged by COVID. While politicians postured and real heroes sweated, most of us faced the very real fear of being caught short with the toilet paper. And struggling to make a tuna pasta bake. Oh God, and the banana bread. So. Much. Banana bread. It was here in this strange situation that the wacky world of Avalon called to me again.
Perhaps it’s not surprising then, that while Avalon focused on other worlds bleeding into this one, that Faerie Tales took us to some of those other realms instead. Perhaps it’s no surprise that as my waking world grew smaller for those months, Artie and Matt’s grew bigger, wider and stranger. And perhaps it’s also no surprise that finally, after all this time, I was able to dive deep into my childhood and bring back a character I’d not seen in a long time. Older, wiser, and still with the love of Jaffa Cakes, it was nice to catch up with Amy once again.
It took years to publish, after a personal crisis of faith that led to me taking a step back from indie authorship. But when I, and the world, was ready – Faerie Tales was there ready and waiting. A doorway that unlocked the future. Or…perhaps…a portal?
